Middle School Physical Education

In this course, students are required to actively engage in a variety of fitness activities including: calisthenics, static and dynamic stretching, endurance running, sprinting, various PE games, and core sports (ie. soccer, indoor soccer, basketball, softball, flag football, volleyball, track and field, tennis, badminton and pickleball.)
Students will also be evaluated based on a point system in which they are given the chance to retain 5 points daily as long as they participate in the following:
Most importantly, STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP, consistent with the guidelines below:
*Students are expected to dress out for PE every day.
Flexible, comfortable, athletic wear and appropriate shoes are acceptable. Jeans, dresses, boots, and flats are not.
*If a student is absent, points lost can be earned by completing an Independent Exercise Log and turning it in with a parent or coach’s signature.
*If a student is injured or sick, a note from a parent and/or a Doctor’s note will be required to be excused from class activities.
*Water is allowed. Sport drinks, food and gum are not allowed. Blue slips and detentions will be given for violations.
*Cell Phones and ear buds are not allowed. They will be confiscated.
*Students who are tardy will receive consequences as outlined in the handbook.

- WARM UP (calisthenics/dynamic stretches)
- ENDURANCE RUNNING/SPRINTING
- SKILL BUILDING AND RELATED ACTIVITIES
- SPORTS & GAMES
- COOL DOWN (static stretches)

- I try to avoid arguments.
- I share in the responsibilities of the team
- I give everyone a chance to play according to the rules.

- I follow the directions of the teacher.
- I respect the other team’s effort.
- I offer encouragement to my teammates.
- I accept the judgment calls of the game’s officials.
- Win or lose, I end the game smoothly.
